Watercolourist Ong Kim Seng born in an attap house off Silat Road. Father worked at the Bata Factory. Studied at Radin Mas Primary School, where teachers noticed his artistic talent and encouraged him. His mother, however, used one of his early paintings to patch the roof of their home (Read The Straits Times, 20 Oct 2008).
